City Council set for pivotal actions including power deal
The general council plans a pivotal afternoon with a proposed agreement between the city and Georgia Railway and Electric Company, including rate cuts from 9 to 7 cents per kilowatt hour and 6.4 to 4.5 cents power, plus street, water, and bond terms. Alderman McClelland will renew his opposition, possibly prompting a court fight, while other measures extend city limits to Capitol View and create a meter inspector role. The council also weighs a vice commission to combat vice, sidewalks bids, and a negro ball park proposal sure to spark heated debate.

Lakewood Lake Storm Sweeps Boats to Gulf
A severe storm last Thursday flooded Lakewood, lifting the lake level and sending boats over a dam into a fast river. Nineteen boats were lost, some likely crushed or carried to the South river and possibly to the Chattahoochee and Gulf. Damages to the park and bath houses are estimated above $1,000. The dam on the east side failed, and sewer runoff swollen the lake until repairs restore safety.

Many Arrests Made for Attack on King in Rome
Rome, March 27. Several arrests tied to the attempt on King Victor Emmanuel last week. Among the prisoners is Nicolas Tadleo, a Roumanian, named in government reports as connected to a plot to kill the King, Premier Giolitti, and Foreign Minister Giuliano. Tachivo was arrested in Rome. Antonio Dalba, who fired at the King, was questioned again and admitted target practice. He insisted he acted alone. Some say Dalba’s mind may be affected by the Turco Italian war.
