Tarkio Mo March special describes David Rankin a wealthy farmer and landowner in Richison County. He manages 29 acres worth 30 to 100 an acre, owns a bank electric light and other companies, and oversees 14 farms with 120 to 150 hands. Rankin is a former state legislator, now a major donor to Tarkio College, funding near 100000 toward education and promising matching gifts. He farms, fattens 10000 cattle yearly, and keeps a thriving network across Kansas Nebraska and Iowa.
