Camilla Ga March 12 News reaches here of the killing of merchant Robert L Maillard of Branchville at his store late last night. James Spence of Camilla is in jail charged with the crime. The killing is described as very brutal.
In Pineville Kentucky on March 12 robbers battered David Smith and his wife at their home and robbed them of 542 dollars. Mrs Smith lies in critical condition with life uncertain while Mr Smith’s injuries are less severe. Bloodhounds track the attackers as public alarm rises.
The Roberts Police Board convenes this afternoon at five o'clock to discuss local law enforcement matters and agenda items presented by board members and city officials.
The police board meets at the barracks to decide Sergeant Roberts's neglect of duty suspension. Chief Jennings urged immediate action to quell department turbulence. March 12 near Edison Arlington Ga police chief Ray acted quickly to quell a near riot between whites and blacks. John Price, Bollvon Ga citizen, shot by Wil Wakefield, a Black man. Wakefield and leaders were arrested as a band of about fifty armed Black assailants gathered to attack Price’s allies.
Sam Baird aged 60, a longtime associate of Lucky Baldwin and partner in a Virginia City era venture, was buried in a desert coffin at Gold Mountain after being found dead Monday night. Once Baldwin’s manag er of Gold Mountain mines, Baird lost fortune as investments failed and was displaced from the millionaire circle.
Three men were seriously wounded in an accidental shooting at the Central Georgia Power Company's plant on the Oconalgee river yesterday afternoon. Edward Stalnworth from Butt county W. J Brannon of South Carolina Curtis Kite of Virginia were injured Brannon was shot in the hip and leg. The exact cause remains unclear with minor details available.
An explosion at the American Steel and Wire Company open hearth furnace in Cleveland injures three workers fatally and seriously burns three others when water contacts molten metal. The blast damages the building and hurls hot metal onto staff.

Traverse City Michigan March 12 Two war veterans John W Wallace and D W Laselle completed a village championship card playing contest that lasted twenty years. They alternated nights between homes omitting Sundays and kept a score with no angry words. Wallace won the tenth consecutive game, prompting a renewed challenge that he declined as neither would likely live to finish another series.
In Oyster Bay the former president Theodore Roosevelt and Mrs Roosevelt greeted townspeople at a reception. Mothers brought their children, with Roosevelt chatting and smiling as he moved through the line. A reporter was pressed to sign papers, declined, and the crowd dispersed after the event.
