Nashville March 11 The fourth day of arguments in the Cooper Sharp trial for the murder of former U S Senator Carmack closed with General Washington finishing his ninth hour of defense. He attacked the state’s counselors and stressed the social standing of the defendants. Court adjourned as he promised to conclude tomorrow. Morristo Moriscohen 30 Days and 300 Bond Set

Morris Cohen a 103 Decatur street soft drink dealer faced a sentence of 30 days in the stockade and a fine of 800 with a 1000 bond after being found guilty of selling near beer and keeping it in his shop. His attorneys appealed and posted bond, delaying payment of the fine and sentence. Witnesses testified about beer and whisky seizures tied to Cohen’s wedding, which he claimed explained the quantity and storage. The defense challenged the law’s constitutionality but the recorder refused to dismiss, citing appellate approval.

Mother Sacrifices Life to Save Young Son in Bronx Crash

In New York March 1 Mrs. Leopold Baumann shielded her 4 year old son as an automobile driven by Tul ly C. Estee struck their group near a street corner in the Bronx. She died at the scene after throwing the child toward a street car. the boy survived with injuries. The Estee chauffeur was arrested and both families live in Mount Vernon.

Boy Dies After Accidental Gunshot Wound

Mewin Eckert seven year old son of Mr and Mrs A O Bekerle of Digewood died after an operation at a private sanitarium. He had been shot in July near Eaglewood when older boys fired from a small caliber rifle. Despite initial recovery a second operation proved fatal. The father was away when the incident occurred. Body taken to Poole's undertaking establishment awaiting arrangements.

Abel Fleming Pound Dies After Long Illness in Atlanta

Abel Fleming Pound longtime traveling salesman and Atlanta resident died at his home 112 Crew Street after nearly three months of illness. Born in Putnam County in the 1840s he built a career with railroad sales, then with a Cincinnati buggy company and later the Phillips brothers wholesale fruit business in Atlanta. Survived by wife five children and two brothers, services and burial arrangements to be announced.

The Atlanta Muate Festival Association filed for incorporation in the superior court through attorneys Smith Hampsmond Smith. Charter members include J H Gray J E Murphy ROS Wechsels George W Wilkins W Woods White W L Peel C B Bidwell C I Anderson Vo Ho Kriegshaber V il Smith and B L Crew. The group seeks a twenty year charter with renewal option, capital £2 500, and authority to increase to $100 000. Purpose is to promote music festivals and cultivate musical taste in Atlanta and the South. Monument to Wir memory chosen for Andersonville site

Georgia Daughters of the Confederacy vote to erect a monument to Wir at Andersonville opposite Captain Wirks office. Three sites were nominated Andersonville Macon Americus with Andersonville winning 126 votes to 2 for Macon and 4 for Americus.
