Saturday Night Club Meets Aims At Land Question
The Saturday Night Club gathered at the Carnegie library to discuss Henry George’s land theory and Adam Smith’s rent ideas, focusing on why inherited property profits landlords while tenants’ improvements raise land values. F. E. Meyers urged practical industrial education, and M. H. Wilensky linked land rent to lower taxes. Music by Josephine Rainwater complemented the proceedings, with a forthcoming open forum on city ownership of electric lighting and rail ways.
