Elaborate Terminals Planned for Athens
Athens Ga February 29 Special It is understood from authoritative sources that the Georgia railroad will spend a quarter of a million dollars on freight and passenger terminals to bring the depot closer to the business part of the town. The road first had its depot across the river two miles away from the University gate with a horse car line to the station. The station was brought across the river to the foot of a steep incline. Now it is proposed to erect a five story freight depot building with elevator service for teams and construct a steel concrete viaduct from Foundry Street to the level of the fifth story. A passenger station nearer on a level with the business street is included in the scheme.
