Georgia Governor Urges Strict Economy and Klan Reform
Governor Thomas W. Hardwick urged a rule of strict economy and the abolition or reduction of several state departments. He called for law enforcement on the Ku Klux Klan with a public face covering ban and a requirement that secret orders list officers and members. The address drew scattered applause but overall silent listening from the General Assembly. Representative Joseph O. Wood denounced the Klan critique in the message after the session.
