Georgia firemen award ends wage disparity debate
The arbitration panel ruled white and black workers at the Georgia railroad must receive equal pay for the same work. Vice President Ball called the decision a give and take settlement, noting no discharge of black workers and a shift toward seniority rights without objection from either side. The award is expected to stand under the Erdman act and no party plans to oppose in court.
