Plan Opposition To Move For New County In State
Perry Georgia June 26 Specially at a called meeting of Houston county citizens plans were made to defeat the new county movement advocated by Fort Valley and the ninth and sixth districts. They propose to create Peach county by taking over one third of Houston county reaching near Perry then following the national highway to the Hibb county line and including part of Macon county ceded to Macon in 1917. This would leave most bridges and highways to Houston to maintain. A majority oppose the new county though last year voters backed it in elections for legislature and county offices.
