Grayson Jackson Elopement In Nighttime Georgia Hiding Elsewhere
In Macon Georgia on June 24 a sensational elopement was carried out by Ralph Grayson 20 and Ruth Jackson 17 from the home of Ruth Jackson’s parents after securing a license Friday night. They used a ladder to descend from a second floor veranda and were married by a justice of the peace at midnight in the moonlight. The couple fled to Lizella and hid with relatives while police and bicycle patrols searched for them. The pair plan to seek forgiveness from Ruth’s parents and expect a truce within days. The couple had known each other since January and had run away soon after Grayson arrived eighteen months ago from Vienna Virginia.
