Cotton Market Opens Quietly in New York
New York June 2 The cotton market opened with a quiet irregular tone as near months rose about five points while distant months fell up to four. Two day sales were about 150000 bales. July in New Orleans fell about sixteen points and markets eased after initial gains. Weather reports sparked a brief rally before prices eased again. Texas drought and weak demand for long account weighed on sentiment with limited fresh buying. Port receipts totaled 141 bales at New Orleans and 22 bales at Houston for the period. Weekly totals showed 40000 bales for the week versus 88170 the prior week and 80378 a year ago. Bradstreet’s reported available supply changes across wheat, corn, and other staples, with mixed shifts in stocks and imports. The dry goods market and Liverpool spot activity reflected softer prices for sheeting and active cotton yarns. Weather across the South remained hot and largely dry with scattered showers and widespread drought conditions in several states including Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas.

Wheat Market Dips Rise and Drops in Opening Session
In Missouri Kansas and Nebraska wheat futures opened weak then firmed as harvest damage, dry weather, and a smaller world visible supply shifted buyers. July wheat rose to near 84 cents, corn gained, and oats strengthened on drought worries with receipts and futures activity showing mixed moves throughout the day.
Cotton Market Mix Signals and Weather Influence
New York and New Orleans reports show a featureless or firm cotton market with mixed weather impacts. Weather forecasts point to drought in several states while rains in Texas and the Atlantic coast offer some relief. traders eye July positions amid a large short interest and bull spread across major rail and financial names.
Market steadies on crop prospects and thin trading
New York stocks show narrow movement as crop expectations and mixed reports influence sentiment. Treasury balances amid anticipated European rates frame broader market tone while cotton seed oil prices hold steady on speculative support.
