Unity Bell project links blue and gray in a 1907 bid

At 102 South MorSyth Street, engineers from both sides of the Civil War era gathered to fund a widely symbolic unity bell for Washington. Kentucky Appeals Uphold Racial School Segregation Law

Frankfort June 12 The Kentucky court of appeals upheld the 1904 act banning coeducation by race in the commonwealth schools. The Madison county case from Berea College finds the law constitutional and not violating the bill of rights or the fourteenth amendment. The decision requires white and negro schools to be 28 miles apart when conducted together and sends the case to the United States Supreme Court.
