Barrow Resigns Chancellorship At University Of Georgia
Athens June 11 Special The resignation of Chancellor David C Barrow of the University of Georgia to take effect a year from next September was presented to the board of trustees. Barrow said age and long service made resignation timely and he wished to aid in selecting a successor while remaining to finish the million dollar drive. The trustees and faculty and students expressed deep regret. Barrow, 68, a native of Oglethorpe County, a UGA graduate, began in math, rose to head of the math department, and became chancellor in 1905. He noted his plan to resign by September 1922 or earlier if the board desired. He praised the university and thanked the board for support. He is a Methodist and the only living Georgian in whose honor a county is named.

Blaze Devours Second Floor at Edgewood and Pryor
A late Saturday night fire gutted the second floor of a two story brick building at the southeast corner of Edgewood avenue and North Pryor street. Bean & Magill printing firm suffered heavy losses while nearby businesses and a large crowd observed. Two firefighters were cut by flying glass but returned to duty after treatment at Grady hospital. The blaze caused an estimated 50 thousand dollars in damage with total losses around 560 thousand dollars and is believed to have started on the second floor with unidentified origin.
