Thirty-six injured in Alabama railroad wreck near Tawney
In Walker County Alabama a southeastbound Brisco system passenger train derailed after heavy rains undermined the track. Thirty six people were injured and several seriously. Many were rushed to Birmingham for treatment as carriages left rails and a 200 foot section of track was torn up. Names and injuries of the wounded were reported from the scene and to the Birmingham hospital.

Two Youths Die in River Incident During Bathing
While bathing in the Higborough River near here this morning Victor Fabier aged 19 and his brother Henry 16 were drowned. Victor trained the boy to swim and joked that he would teach him. The older brother ducked the younger, who gripped him tightly and neither could break free. A crowd watched from shore as both boys perished.
