Official Career Ends For Self Styled Officer Keeghling
A Sunday Atlanta report describes George Keeghling, who gave Chapman Street as his address, acting as a self styled officer of the law near Carnegie Way and Ellis Street. When confronted by Officer Ball, Keeghling attempted to flee, his feet failing under police order as Ball fired his pistol. The improvised badge was torn from Keeghling’s coat during the escape, and officers dismissed the scene as an exhibit at Judge Johnson’s police matinee. The Amsterdam stock exchange gains its first woman member in its history.
