Jim Hill Weds Jack Lamey In Unusual Pauper Grave Bid
The wedding of Jim Hill, called the colonel, to Jack Lamey was completed as a charity event to fill a pauper’s grave. The ceremony occurred at dawn with Judge Ridley officiating after a hectic chase for a license and minister. The couple and friends celebrated at the Mackachron residence before a funeral for Hill, who died at the Atlanta almshouse after a long life of service and hardship.

Roosevelt firm on electors plan after Pennsylvania talks
Roosevelt remains firm on choosing presidential electors with no compromise to party bosses. Pennsylvania discussions with Flinn and Van Valkenburg failed to win his endorsement for a dual Taft Roosevelt ticket. He will not alter his stance and will at least withhold electors if no clear plan satisfies his independence. He also touched base with Wisconsin officials and Cochems, who expressed confidence in carrying Wisconsin.
