At the Old Botanic Gardens in Berlin a motorcycle race ended in a disastrous explosion and fire. Four killed and over twenty seriously injured as the bike burst into flames, struck spectators, and caused a brutal stampede that burned two women to ashes and left many others wounded.
Butler Pennsylvania July. State troopers arrived from Punxsutawney to guard Standard Steel Car Company property. A clash in the plant yard left one striker fatally shot, two wounded, and more than ten injured. Fifteen strike leaders were arrested as 500 Standard Wheel Company workers joined 2,500 strikers.
