Legalizing Pure Beer Favored by Committee
Senator McNeils bill to legalize sale of pure beer was reported to the senate with a recommend passage. A minority group of Senators Searcy Sweat Tarver and Hixon signed a dissent citing a backward step. The temperance committee met in executive session to discuss and vote on the measure and favored passage. The advocates say the bill simply legalizes real beer now sold as near beer in Atlanta and other cities.
