NO TROUBLE IN GETTING LABOR IN SOUTH GEORGIA

Thomasville July 3 Special reports on the 1912 watermelon season in Georgia indicate the bulk of the crop was shipped, shorter than last year but high quality and well paid. The crop will extend a week or so more, though land needs seven years to refresh for another good harvest, an unresolved factor in soil quality.

Citizen urges removal of Erskine fountain at Peachtree junction

Residents debate preserving the Erskine fountain at the Peachtree junction while many favor moving it to a city park. A cited plan links street widening from Harris to Ivy streets with a building line that would make the fountain a traffic stopper unless relocated. The site was deeded as open space to host an ornamental fountain, with future curb adjustments proposed to harmonize the scene.
