Washington February 14 Senator Bacon dies and President Wilson issues a tribute noting him as one of the senate’s oldest and most experienced members. Vice President Marshall adds that Bacon was lovable capable and well backed by facts supporting his judgments. Georgia’s distinguished son and servant will be greatly missed.
Washington February 14 Special Senator Bacon died suddenly at Garfield hospital from an infected blood condition. Informed officials and leaders across the nation adjourned in respect as funeral plans are announced. The body will lie in state in the senate marble room before a Tuesday funeral in Washington followed by a Macon service in Georgia.
