In San Francisco on December 6 a riot erupted after a coast artillery soldier, William Ross, was stabbed in a saloon near the Presidio. About 200 soldiers joined the fracas, bricks flew, shots were fired, and police and provost guards restored order. Ross and many soldiers were detained and several arrests followed.
Little Rock Ark December 26. Pipkin a planter and merchant fatally shot Johan Manus his brother in law. The day before Manus fired into Pipkin s store wounding Pipkin and his two sons. Manus returned yesterday and Pipkin shot and killed him.
Four men killed near Middlesboro after a violent altercation last night. Samuel Wens and Rass were mortally wounded near Four Mile while Will Blenderson was killed by his cousin Nathan Hendrickson at Taggarts Creek. Thomas Haynes was beaten to death with a club by Hen Bowman.
In Beensburg Pennsylvania on Christmas, a Civil War veteran named Anderson stabbed his son multiple times fatally wounding him while also slashing his wife. The son, a young man, died from chest wounds as Anderson lies in jail awaiting the outcome of the injuries.
Mdlesbord Virginia near Harlan county tense dispute ends in fatal shooting. T L Wilson, a farmer, and neighbor Ton Partin argued over the greatest general of the war. Partin drew a revolver and killed Wilson.
In Piketon Ohio a church battle left six men mortally wounded and many others hurt. Revolvers and knives were used as women and children jumped from windows in panic while Charles and Orrin Day announced intent to “clean out” the Leges family amid prior quarrels. The minister Rev Rene remained. Wounded include Orrin Day Charles Day Wesley Lege Joseph Williams John Durrant Lebanon Williams. Medical help called from Piketon and Idaho. sheriff notified. Authorities fear the six may die.
Paris Texas December 6 The people here remain greatly excited over the assassination of Rev J N McClinton a preacher and farmer near Depert His dying statement allegedly implicates two men One is Howard McGill a farmer who has been arrested The horse thought to have carried the other suspect was found wounded near the scene with buckshot in its shoulder The name of the other suspect is not confirmed and the case develops with local tension.

A Canadian Pacific express running between Sault Ste. Marie and Webbwood Ontario collided with a light freight engine east of Thessalon.
