Dr Willingham Dies in Richmond After Apoplexy
Rev. Robert J. Willingham D D longtime secretary of the Southern Baptist foreign mission board died after apoplexy in a Richmond hotel on December 20. Born 1864 in Beaufort district South Carolina he trained at the University of Georgia and Southern Theological Seminary. He had served as pastor in Talbotton Georgia Chattanooga and Memphis and was linked to many Atlanta church communities. He is survived by wife Cornelia Bacon of Macon five sons and four daughters. His home was in Macon with two brothers E J and Broadus Willingham and a late Macon cousin Calder Willingham. He was widely known and loved in Georgia and Atlanta.
