A downtown luncheon event run by the Ladies of the Art Association drew a large crowd at the Holiday Restaurant near Twin Theater on Whitehall Street. Today features an oyster luncheon for Catholics with a 35 cent price, and tomorrow Mayor Joyner will serve chafing dish birds from 12 to 3 with a 60 cent lunch, chaired by Mrs Linton Hopkins and Mrs Robert L Foreman.

Van Leer Polk grand nephew of former President Polk dies suddenly in Memphis at age while crossing a street in the business district. He was a newspaper editor for The News Scimitar and formerly consul general to Calcutta. Remains go to the Polk family home near Nashville for interment.
