A Cadillac car from Osceola strikes a protective rail at the Washington underpass, causing a fatal accident as the victim, named Carnes, is thrown through the air and dies at the scene. Investigators note the vehicle veered and struck the railing, details cited by local authorities.
Major Manley B. Curry paymaster for the Department of the Gulf and son in law of Senator A. Bacon was hurled from a car on the Washington street viaduct and died at Grady hospital. Dr Willem Carnes drove. a night accident caused by a misread concrete divide and shadow over Decatur and Courtland streets led to the fatal fall onto Belgian blocks below. Curry died within minutes. Carnes was bruised. Mrs Curry and Senator Bacon were notified.
Reports from Nogales say twelve men were killed by 150 Yaqui warriors, southeast of Magdalena Sonora. A party led by P J McIntyre viewed the coffins and bodies, with one American spared after being warned by captors. Victims included Mexican laborers and Jose Fernandez son of Cucurpe’s president. The Yaqui warpath is feared to continue.
New Orleans December 18 J Knoepster head of the state immigration office reported findings of an inquiry into Austrian immigrants at the Mcilhenny canning establishment. He said they were not mistreated but were unhappy due to false representations by labor agents who hired them to go north.
In Boise Idaho on December 18 the Pettibone trial faced possible delays as Clarence Darrow’s illness might affect proceedings. Defense counsel Edgar Wilson announced the potential postponement while the day’s sessions opened with the prosecution presenting Miners Magazine articles from the Western Federation of Miners about the Coeur d’Alene troubles and Steunenberg era.
The body of W. F. Hunt was found in the Altamaha river today and a $160 reward was paid to Ganis Holmes, the finder. Hunt and three other railroad men, two from Atlanta, were drowned on December 3. John S. Harn of Savannah remains body in the river. others have been recovered.

Roberts described securing the gun in a wooden box and removing loaded cartridges. Caleb Powers admitted writing a letter to his sweetheart three days before the shooting claiming he helped bring the mountain army to Frankfort and would rather fight than be robbed.
In Birmingham Alabama today the Yolande mine disaster yields a total death list of 61 with one body still unrecovered. An official inspection is planned to determine cause and accountability. Many mules lie dead and body decay complicates recovery but work may resume soon.
