Blame Lawyers for Conviction in Edna Godbee Case
Petition filed with the state prison commission seeks commutation of Edna Perkins Godbee life sentence and a full pardon. It alleges trial counsel mishandled the defense, cites juror affidavits, and argues insanity and ill health at the time of the 1913 double homicide in Millen, Georgia, were not properly raised. The filing, signed by her daughter Sarah Griner, notes ongoing appeals and asserts the defense of insanity would have led to acquittal.
