A controversial incident from a PROMPT trial scene alleges Officer Manier struck ten passing individuals while on duty. The case centers on the Black person accused in a serious matter, with a restaurant keeper witnessing the deed.
Andrew Johnson, a Black man known as Black Sport, shot Patrolman J A Manier at 2 pm near 118 Peters Street. Manier, beloved by colleagues, died from a brain wound after a single pistol bullet. Blackmon, owner of the Peters Street restaurant, helped capture Johnson with help from a white bystander, and Johnson was turned over to Officer Harper. A grand jury may convene to indict Johnson, with possible swift trial and hanging if found guilty.
