Steamer Mount Temple Strikes Snow Ledge Off Nova Scotia
In a bitter December storm the Canadian Pacific Railway steamship Mount Temple carrying about six hundred passengers struck La Have ledges fifteen miles south of Lunenburg. Passengers, mostly immigrants, were rescued by small steamers and tugs and landed at Bridgewater. Government aid was dispatched from Halifax and the Lady Laurier prepared tents and provisions. The ship, 686 tons, built of steel, owned by CPR, sailed from Antwerp to St John NB.
