Fire damages four story building on Huron Street

Fire of unknown origin in the upper stories of the four story building at 232 234 Huron Street caused an estimated loss of 156000 to 200000. International Harvesting Company restaurant and other businesses were housed there. Husband’s foe slain in pistol duel by wife in Kentucky

In Mount Sterling Kentucky Thomas a Montgomery county farmer was shot and killed by Katie Brumet the 20 year old wife of Abe Brumet after a dispute between the families. She fired five shots wounding him in the brain and was critically wounded after a bullet grazed her head. The young mother to be is in danger while Brumet, age unknown, is described as a respected native of Johnson county.

Artie Harris, a 25 year old Black man and former railway worker, is jailed on charges of attempting to wreck the Atlanta bound Southern passenger train near Rover, after locking a spur switch. Death calls Sheriff Rogers after sixteen years in office

Eastman Georgia August 25 Special J Rogers longtime county sheriff dies this morning from paralysis stroke struck Friday evening at about seven o clock. He was highly regarded as one of the best sheriffs in the state and was reelected by the largest majority of his career. It is believed his son Sam Rogers Jr will be elected to fill the unexpired term.

Rees Dies In Chattanooga Auto Crash On Carter Street

Chattanooga marked tragedy as B Frank Rees a prominent clubman and Columbia graduate died after his car plunged 20 feet down an embankment on Carter Street. W E B Love Jr and William Hendrick were seriously injured, with Love suffering a broken nose and back sprains while Hendrick sustained a fractured back and other injuries.
