Registration Bill Passes House Amid Debate On Ballot Market

The house approved the permanent registration bill by a 104 to 13 vote and sent it to the senate, which warned it will not consider measures not previously submitted. Debate touched on potential ballot market interference, with Chatham county representatives opposing the bill and highlighting campaign finance concerns in Savannah. Two amendments were adopted, including identity verification for voters and removal of qualifications when ownership of property changes, with emphasis on constitutional qualification limits and property transfers.
