Georgia Governor Proposes Constitutional Amendment on Education Tax

Joseph M Brown announces a proposed amendment to Article VII Section 2 of the Georgia Constitution. The measure would allow counties to levy taxes for educational purposes, with the vote set for a statewide election in October 1970. The amendment seeks to empower courts to fund public buildings, roads, and support for jurors, while preserving other state powers. The governor urges civic participation and directs publication in major papers.
