Governor M R Patterson attacks Taft as a meddler in Tennessee affairs and urges Democrats to resist Republican influence. He proposes waiving the nomination for a term, tests Democratic choice in a primary, and vows to thwart efforts to republicanize the state. Page two continuation noted.
Voters in Bibb and surrounding counties heard from Hoke Smith supporters at his headquarters in Macon as Smith planned stops in Bibb by night and at Tifton Vienna in successive days. A prepared statement from Smith backers cites county by county boosts, including Haralson Campbell and Liberty, predicting reversals of Brown majorities and strong backing for Smith amid white voter support.
