South Georgia Road in Receiver's Hands
Valdosta Ga August 8 Special Under a petition for foreclosure mortgage by the landholders the Valdosta Moultrie and Western railroad running from this city to Moultrie was today placed in temporary receivership. B F Jones appointed temporary receiver and the railroad cited to show cause on the 23d instant why the action should not be made permanent. The action for receivership was brought by the Valdosta Bank and Trust company before Judge Thomas of the superior court. The bonded indebtedness of the road is 100000 dollars the entire issue owned by B P Jones who took it over some time ago. The V M & W was built four years ago entirely by Valdosta capital. It is 42 miles long and was started with an original capital of 100000 dollars. Heavy losses were sustained last year by the washing away of trestles and much of the track by torrential rains. This together with the money stringency and the tight Ames during the past year is largely responsible for the road's embarrassment. I Warrill, general manager, continues in that capacity for the receiver. It is stated that the road's liabilities will all be paid.
