Collar Honey Meets Death By Drowning

Five young men, aged eighteen to twenty four, sailed a pond near East Point, Kuga. Honey, eighteen, drowned after the boat overturned while one member planned a dive. Wright saved Honey but Edgar Honey died soon after. coroner ruled drowning. Body prepared for funeral in Smyrna, Ga. Residents dammed the pond to lowering water after the incident.

Mitchell 145 Captured in Georgia Flight Brings Suspect to Jail

Statesboro August 4 special charged with attempting to assault his wife's sister Miss Rushing. Pratt Mitchell a young white man previously at large in Telfair and McRae areas was captured in McRae and taken to Balloch county jail awaiting superior court trial. Sheriff Kendrick coordinated the lookout and confirmed the arrest. Mitchell does not deny identity but denies the alleged assault.

Young Man Injured Leaving Macon Street Car

In Macon Georgia on August 4 a South Macon resident, Cleveland Goodwin, was injured as he alighted from a street car on Fourth street. His foot was mashed between car steps and the platform, sending him to City Hospital with painful but non fatal injuries. Mock Duck Arrested in Boston for Chinatown shooting. Rural mail carrier shot. deputy marshal slain in Kentucky

In Topkinsville Kentucky on August 4 a rural mail carrier and local citizen Martin aged 38 was killed by Duke Lewis a Black man. Martin had been sworn in as deputy marshal and confronted Lewis about suspicious behavior when Lewis drew a pistol and shot him in the heart. The assailant fled the scene.

Lightning destroys Armour Fertilizer Plant in Jacksonville

A lightning strike at 1 p.m. today set fire to the Armour Fertilizer Company plant in Jacksonville, causing total damage of over 860000 dollars to the building and about 25000 dollars to stock and materials. The blaze completely destroyed the structure and disrupted operations.

Three Young Men Fatally Hurt in Auto Crash

New York reports a 40 horsepower auto driven by a Tarbell companion collided with a Third Avenue surface car at West Thirty-sixth Street. Tarbell, Woodson, and Cutching suffered severe injuries. Tarbell and Cutching sustained broken legs, dislocated shoulders, and skull fracture risks. All were taken to Bellevue Hospital. Tarbell survived to ask about the wreck. A second item notes Peter Wenderer’s death in a tire burst while racing an automobile in Southport, Bridgeport.

Tampico Mexico August 4 A probe into the Puebla collision with the Hamburg American liner Foresch led to the release of the German ship’s pilot who was initially arrested Captain Max Divern of the Foresch remained in custody as attempts to free him were denied on grounds he has no fixed residence in the country.

In Smithville Tennessee August 4 a posse hunts James D Ford a married man accused of attempted assault on Dolly Potter eleven or twelve year old daughter of Rev L T Potter. Ford allegedly used a double barreled shotgun to force her to go with him. Mrs Potter heard the disturbance and the girl fled. Walter Sanders obtained a warrant and deputies pursued Ford. Locals fear lynching if captured.
