Shanghai and Cochin fowls in Poultry History
The author recounts a long debate on whether the Cochin evolved from the Shanghai, arguing that modern Cochins in China resemble historical stocks and that the Shanghai is the ancestor of many American breeds. He recalls early Shanghai legends, breeding shifts, and notes the Shanghais as foundational to fancy chicken breeding in the United States, with plans to explore Brahma Pootra Cochins and related varieties in future installments.
