He noted one lifeboat carried four crew and forty five passengers and that women and children were prioritized. He stated he remained in the lifeboat for about four hours and did not see life rafts. He admitted to not wanting to see the ship go down and said he did not recall improper lifeboat allocation. The hearing examined how many lifeboats were used and the survival of wireless operators.
