Hoke Smith acquires the Alexander property at Peachtree and Luckie streets from W. M. Scott for 50000 in cash. City real estate chatter says a five or six story department store or a four story mixed use building may rise on the site, with out-of-town store tenants possible and the Atlanta Symphony Club likely to move unless new quarters are found. J C Daniel a prominent Atlanta business leader in West End is critically ill at 196 Gordon street. He contracted congestion of the lungs with heart issues after a relapse following an illness last Monday. Daniel helped develop Atlanta postwarly, worked with G W Price, and ran J C and I Daniel with Isham Daniel before going solo. He is a devout West End Baptist and helped build the Lee street church edifice. His wife and children Walter T Daniel and Mrs Harvey Clarke reside with him.
