Howard Attacks Express Combine Reforms Parcels Post
Representative William Schley Howard moves to curb the express monopoly with a bill to create a general parcels post limited to 11 pounds and open carriage of most mailed matter by the government, aiming to end toll abuse and boost postal revenue while excluding fragile or dangerous goods from cheaper service. Hold Horse Show Planned Despite Loss
Despite a last year deficit of about $3000 the association voted to hold another horse show this fall. At a chamber of commerce meeting led by J H Nunnally, some members urged dissolution citing lack of Atlanta support, while others argued the loss was due to circumstances and a simpler, local-focused show could succeed. Last year’s directors were re elected with two new members. A nominating committee asked for more time and will report Thursday at 4 PM in the chamber of commerce.
