Levees have broken near Memphis forcing hundreds from homes as Mississippi River rises with the Ohio Tennessee and Cumberland watershed rains. Flood stages near 44 feet feared with 2 feet rises expected. boats remain main river activity while officials warn stages may reach 54 to 56 feet this week.
In Newnan Georgia special dispatch details that doctors plan an autopsy on Eugene Grace to confirm spinal cord status and recover the leaden bullet for use as evidence in Grace's trial. Physicians hope removing pressure from the wound could revive him though operation seems unlikely before death.

The Morris fund rose by 38 on Tuesday to 2142.21 with contributions from Greek Orthodox church 15 and 10 reserved for Marguerite Beck and from I Springer and Oscar Cook among others. The fund aims to reach 2500 by week end to relieve the Morrises and a meeting will plan distribution. Mrs Morris suffered a heart attack Sunday but recovered by Monday. Contributions totaled 2400 and the goal remains to reach 2500.
Milwaukee Wis April 2 Non partisan ballots swept city offices. A non partisan mayor and aldermen and county board likely end party participation in future municipal elections. Wisconsin legislature poised to consider a nonpartisan city election statute at a special session. Dr G A Bading defeated socialist candidate for mayor and a socialist slate for aldermen also lost.
