In Athens posters for the Macon carnival show Oct 10 11 12 and 18. McDonald arranged large advertising bills, Rowe received them for conspicuous display. Citizens predict a large crowd. Also notice Dr Tichenor antiseptic and Prickly Ash Bitters sold locally with claims of health benefits.
The Sarepta Baptist Association at Maysville adjourned after three days with emphasis on temperance and education. The First Baptist of Athens opposed whiskey in any form and may ask for Manager Johnson to retire from the church, a decision now in internal church hands. The centennial session noted eminent Baptists and planned stronger missionary work. Dr. R. Bernard of Mercer spoke on finances. Jefferson, Ga., April 12 1899.
The Georgia State Fair in Atlanta will showcase a comprehensive cotton ginning and baling display featuring four systems. Two round bale and two square bale methods will be demonstrated side by side for direct comparison, including a novel perpetual press from a renowned New York firm. The exhibit promises to be the fair’s leading feature and a decisive event for Southern cotton practices.
Clarke County Georgia unveils a new ginning and packing plant operated by Capt J H Rucker near Ocoee Street and Palmer Avenue. Elsie, two year old daughter of Judge James F. Foster, died yesterday at four in the morning at their Pope Street home after a brief illness. The child had seemed improved Wednesday night but suddenly worsened. despite medical efforts she passed away. The funeral was held yesterday afternoon at four thirty at the Foster home conducted by Rev. John W. Heidt, with interment at Oconee Cemetery.
Al G Field vows a grand minstrel program at the New Opera House on the 28th with sixty artists. The troupe touts itself as America's largest, with praised performances in Mobile and other cities, highlighting fielding wit and featured acts by Donnelly Shunk and the Faust family.

Election officials met at the courthouse to consolidate general election returns for the representative race. Major Carlton carried the county by a 337 vote majority. The consolidated totals reflect results from all precincts.
Mr J C Bernard a young Athens lawyer files a 5000 damage suit against J P Fears & Sons through Judge Geo O Thomas Col R S Howard and Col H B West alleging malicious prosecution after an earlier accusation of cheating and swindling led to his acquittal. The case awaits the next court term and may prove sensational.
