Textile wage row threatens new Fall River strike
Fall River Massachusetts October 24 The textile situation grew tenser as the Manufacturers Association representing all local print cloth mills with M C D Borden of New York refused a direct restoration of the pre July 25 1904 wage schedule. The association will refer the matter to special union meetings while unions weigh action. The proposed plan would raise wages about 13 percent with a 5 percent plus profit sharing, based on cloth market prices and a cotton cost margin. The new schedule took effect today with no general strike, except the Barnard mills where ring spinners stayed away.
