Passing of William J Russell Old Citizen of Atlanta
William J Russell Sr died Sunday afternoon at Dr Gaston’s residence in Atlanta after a series of throat operations. Born February 8 1825 in Liberty County Georgia he lived in Marietta Athens and Atlanta. A devout Presbyterian and longtime factory manager he married Harriet Brumby in 1859 leaving sons Richard B Nuert Lee William J Edward G and a daughter Mary B Russell. His funeral in Athens included clergy from the Presbyterian church and officers of the court with his son Lieutenant L L Russell in attendance.
