Kenry Cheney and June Massey, two African American men, were arraigned in Mayors Court yesterday morning on disorderly conduct charges and fined $6.25 each. The prosecutor, David Miller, testified the pair held him at gunpoint on Prince Avenue Tuesday night demanding money, but no shots were fired. Police suspected the incident involved a craps game with several Black men.
Atlanta Georgia November fifteenth. Directors of the Atlanta Fair association met to close remaining work on the recent state fair. Vice President Alex W. Smith Secretary Frank Weldon and Directors Eugene R. Black J Lee Barnes and Ralph Vanlandingham attended. Total receipts should top sixty thousand dollars with disbursements under sixty thousand. Prizes have been paid and a slight surplus expected after returning the guaranty fund to subscribing citizens. Final exact figures await railroad return reports and a public briefing.

One year jail term imposed in Troup county chain gang after J W Green pleaded guilty to stealing camera gear from J L Schaub of La Grange. Athena officer Evans attended the trial and returned home yesterday.
Chicago November 15 A Chicago university divinity student Robert Morris was arraigned before Justice Callahan on a charge of using a found transfer on a Cottage Grove Avenue car. He argued patrons buy the maximum ride, while the judge ruled riding a found transfer is robbery. Morris will return to court for further discussion.
Hon. John Calvin Johnson ordinary of Oconee county died Wednesday afternoon at his Watkinsville home after a one day illness. His death shocked the community where he had hundreds of friends. He had been in declining health for weeks, though the end was unexpected. A devoted Georgian official, he served in state duties with long acquaintance.
The death of Judge Johnson, a prominent Oconee County figure and former county official, follows a sudden illness after a day of normal courthouse work. Son of J W Johnson of Watkinsville and grandson of Rev John Calvin Johnson, he loyal to the Democratic Party and led investigations in Holbrook’s murder, earning wide respect for his tact and dedication.
Receipts show over 55 000 bales to date, higher than 1904 05 but not matching last year. Most crop already harvested. 20 000 plus bales remain in stock as farmers hold due to prices. Stock on hand and wagon and railroad receipts are detailed with local spinners and shipments noted.
Mr. A C Howze of Birmingham owns a George Cook painting of Athens made from the old Georgia railroad depot site in east Athens. The view shows the campus and city beyond the river. It was a wedding gift to Miss Claudia Clayton, later Mrs. Howze, and will be donated to the University for its new library. The New York Evening Post notes Hearst deserves a fair count.
The Association of Collegiate Alumnae, founded in Boston, will meet in Atlanta and Athens November 22 25 to support women’s higher education. The Southern Association of College Women formed to organize southern colleges, with Miss Parrish elected president and Miss McVea secretary treasurer. The program includes lectures by Mrs Albert Tuttle and Chancellor Till, a luncheon, and sessions at Agnes Scott College and the University Chapel, inviting teachers and senior classes across Athens and Atlanta.
At yesterday’s council meeting an ordinance was approved granting a right of way to the Gainesville Midland Company. The route passes through a portion of city property near the waterworks plant and also crosses Cleveland Avenue.
City leaders pass resolution urging telephone and electric light pole owners to move poles from sidewalk centers to edge locations at once. The mayor and council instruct owners to take immediate action to improve sidewalk safety and accessibility.

New Orleans Nov 15 Following President Haryle Jordan arrival the Southern Cotton association outlines pledges for farmers to sign naming their address and the cotton amount to hold totaling three million bales. No less than fifteen cents a pound will be asked for the unsold portion with a representative sent to 817 counties to collect pledges.
Macon Ga November 15 Mayor Bridges Smith appears to have won reelection over Judge A J Miller. Three wards give Smith a 248 lead with the third ward still unfinished at midnight. Miller holds the third ward but is not expected to overturn the result.
