Vincennes Ind May 11 Freelandville hosts a church dispute of great proportions. Rev William Schulz and his 200 family congregation at German Evangelical Bethel Church are at odds. A church trial is set for Freelandsville with charges including untruthfulness swindling congregants undue influence over a will and misappropriation of church funds. Witnesses number over a hundred.
Three young Black men, Jim Taylor Sidney Norris and Claud Elder, are jailed in Watkinsville on murder charges for the Holbrook killings near Oconee County. Witnesses say officer Rose dogs traced scent to a pine thicket and linked suspects, with burglary links to Holbrook store.
A letter from Mrs. M A Lipscomb informed the mayor and council that public exercises were canceled due to delays in completion. The Elijah Clarke Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution turned the monument over to the city with thanks, and the council directed the mayor to convey city thanks to the DAR chapter for securing the monument.
The city council approved letting the University of Georgia engineering department use three old electrical machines until they can be sold. The university will operate and maintain the machines in running order for teaching purposes, and must return them to the city upon demand.
Macon Ga May 11 Professor George Herbert Clarke resigns from Mercer University citing a board policy he says is ecclesiastical rather than educational. He states the action reflects a denominational emphasis that undermines Mercers prestige and educational standards.
Chicago May 11. Strikes among non union workers led to multiple clashes with police. A colored non union man Stewart was shot and cut. Hithrow and Hubbard injured. Charles Frazer wounded in the thigh. Disturbances at Clarke and Lake streets and a Walhs Boyle & Co wagon incident. Eight hundred Hendricks school pupils struck over coal delivery. Edward Wright shot in the groin during a riot near Twenty second place. Police dispersed crowds after stones and coal were thrown.
Morton L. Hi of Lebanon Ind reports his wife suffered inflammatory rheumatism in every muscle and joint and was bedridden six weeks with eight doctors. After using the Mystic Cure for Rheumatism she was relieved in three days and could walk again. Sold by H R Palmer & Sons 105 Clayton street.
Cloud Elder’s father Sambo Elder says if his son killed Holbrook he would want the killer killed. Three other Black suspects to be apprehended if possible. The county is in a fever of excitement over the crime. Mr and Mrs Holbrook buried yesterday at Johnson's church.
J L Holliman of this city received a telegram that his son Ben Lewis Holliman fireman on a freight train was killed in a wreck on the Southern Railroad near Lockhart South Carolina. The wreck killed him and one other man and injured several crew. The body will be brought to Thomson Georgia for burial today. He was thirty years old and unmarried and had lived here for years.
Atlanta Ga May 8 showing a total increase of 161 941 the annual tax return of the Southern railroad was filed with Comptroller General William A Wright Monday morning by Colonel A R Andrews of Raleigh NC first vice president of the big system The property of the company within Georgia including its franchise is valued at 12 32 298 as against a total valuation of 12 660 357 last year The return does not include that of the Alabama Great Southern This property was also returned Monday morning the valuation placed upon it by Colonel Andrews being 478 517 of which 87 552 is for its franchise This is a decrease of 3 242 and the comptroller says he will reject the return and insist upon arbitration unless the company is able to account for the decrease The franchise valuation of the A G B shows decrease According to the detailed statement the value of the Southern's franchise this year is less by 1 518 than it was last year which is not accounted for Last year the franchise was assessed at 2 112 510 and this year Colonel Andrews has given it in for only 2 110 00
Lexington Virginia May 11 cadet mess hall at the Virginia Military Institute was destroyed by fire. Cadets and Lexington fire department fought the blaze but could not save the building as it had gained headway. Origin of the fire is unknown and temporary arrangements are made for 300 cadets while reconstruction is planned.

Thomas Monroe Hall born June 10 1823 in Jackson County Georgia died May 8 1905 at his son W L Hall in Oconee County He enlisted March 4 1862 in Company C 44th Ga Vols wounded June 26 1862 at Ellison Mills He was a Methodist and buried May 9 1905 at Salem Church He leaves two sons and a daughter and his wife survives him The Banner extends sympathy to relatives as the paper notes his long readership
Alanta Ga May 9 After eighteen years there is a possibility that the disputed boundary line between Georgia and Tennessee across Lookout Mountain may be settled. Governor Terrell received a message from Governor Cox of Tennessee stating the Tennessee legislature passed an act to appoint three commissioners to meet a equal number from Georgia to run the boundary between Dade county Georgia and Hamilton and Marion counties Tennessee. The line runs across Lookout Mountain and Georgia first authorized similar commissioners in 1887 with funds unused and returned to the treasury. Governor Cox said he was ready to appoint Tennessee’s commissioners when Georgia agrees.
