Deputy marshal T. P. Trammell and Deputy Collector Brown led a Morgan County raid that seized two thousand gallons of beer from three stills including one copper and two wooden operations. They arrested Bryant Young a flagro man charged with running the stills and brought him to Athens for trial before Commissioner E. C. Kinnebrew.
The mayor and council decided to place East Athens Night School and East Athens Kindergarten under city school system control. The board of education will assume responsibility Monday night with no teaching staff changes. The Night School, funded by local supporters, serves about 110 students with many graduates attaining steady work, while the Kindergarten serves about 60 children supported by the Athens Woman's Club. Increased annual funding will make the institutions permanent and more efficient. A formal opening Monday will feature talks by school leaders and city officials.
Georgia edged Commerce 7 to 6 on Wednesday afternoon at Hertyfeld. The Georgians benefitted from three double plays and a sharp running catch by Whitey Martin as Dickinson's improved batting faced Edwards, overcoming Mercer pitcher Gates. Commerce fielded a strong infield led by Cooper and Big League Scott, Truett, and Harker, yet six seventh and ninth inning runs swung the outcome. Umpire Andrew Erwin.
Georgia Governor Terrell this week thanked Secretary Taft for returning Confederate flags once held by Georgia organizations during the war. He called the action wise and gracious, saying it unifies the nation and will be appreciated by Georgia’s people and veterans. Terrell’s letter emphasizes loyalty to both the Confederate memory and the United States flag.

Three black women remain jailed in Athens while a male suspect escapes. Habeas corpus hearing set for April 16 before Judge Howell Cobb. Warranted peonage charges against the four white defendants to be issued in Oglethorpe. Meanwhile prisoners held in Clarke County Jail.
Winder Georgia March 29 Mrs Ek H Sanders wife of a prominent local chandler was found dead in bed clutching her one year old child. Husband returned home to discover the body coroner to impanel a jury to determine cause heart failure suspected. Survived by husband and infant.
