Lorenzo Philipal was captured a few miles from Caxnorton Georgia. He is charged as the leader of a white cap gang that whipped C. W. Cotton and shot his wife for aiding her husband. The attack allegedly stemmed from Cotton being accused as a revenue informer. The white caps are said to be liquor machine operators.
Special dispatch from Macon Georgia dated March 18 reports Hon. R. W. Patterson engaged by the engineers of the Central Railroad system to represent the Brotherhood in their dispute with the company. Applications for reinstatement of Engineer Arden and contract signings will be presented to Judge Speer soon.
Old Tom Howard, a disabled Black man, was burned to death in a cabin near Rams on March 18. He had a stroke that left him paralyzed and unable to escape when his clothing caught fire while he slept on a pallet near the fire.
In Sulphur Springs a violent clash between the Blancett and Hartfield families left three members from each side contending. Weights and knives were used after a land dispute failed to settle. B. H. Hartfield is not expected to live, Ald Blancett cannot recover, and the fight may continue among the remaining participants.
Reports say Anderson Arnold shot and killed James Bryant as Bryant tried to return fire. The pair had been estranged for some time, with prior unfriendliness noted in local reports.
