A historical narrative recounts Lord Hardinge in Paris facing the French captain Vaaldemar after an attempted assault on Lady Emily. A duel arrangement ends with Vaaldemar killed. Seizing on a question nearing resolution the Board of Trade prompts a schedule change. George D. Wadley of the Central system says merchants in Athens secure a fair freight share so the plan will be adjusted to fit Athens citizens wishes. The transportation department handles the schedule revision as merchants and citizens await updated terms.

Loss estimated near 5 million dollars. Fire swept a full square bounded by Essex Lincoln Tufts and Kineton streets, with extensive property damage and business disruption.
