Excitement rose in Athens as Bill Snelling, a negro man, entered Miss Onie Epps bedroom on Ocone street. Epps woke to find him at the foot of her bed, he fled after warning her not to scream, and was caught by Officer Hill with help from Officer Dearing. Snelling was jailed for dis orderly conduct for six months and may face burglary indictments next October. The carnival was announced as the city prepares for its biggest entertainment yet.

Tarpon of 125 Pounds Landed by Mr Bondurant
A Florida fishing trip near St. Petersburg yielded a tarpon weighing 125 pounds for Mr E J Bondurant. Mrs Rufus W Smith Dies at 75 in La Grange
Mrs Rufus W Smith, aged 75, died yesterday morning at her La Grange home after a long illness. Her son Prof Kyler B Smith of the State Normal School departed for LaGrange. A respected Methodist, she and her husband Prof R W Smith shaped many young lives at the college. The funeral was set for 3 PM this afternoon in LaGrange.

Mrs E P Whitlock died last night at St Marys hospital after ten days with typhoid fever. A longtime county resident near Tuckston she was a Baptist church member and wife of a prominent local citizen. Survived by a daughter Mrs Arthur Tuck. funeral at 5 pm at the Tuckston Baptist church with burial at the local cemetery.

Failure to open Toccoa Falls Institute this fall
The Toccoa Falls Institute will not open this fall as planned due to insufficient funds. Mr. F P Simpson offered land for a college and Mr J M Rogers was hired as agriculture professor and financial agent before funding fell short and the project was abandoned for now. Athens City Schools set for record opening attendance
