Noted Atlanta Doctor Abner W Calhoun Dies at 65
Dr Abner Wellborn Calhoun a leading Atlanta physician and Georgian born in Newnan died Sunday at 4 AM after months of illness. He served in the Confederate army from age 16, married Lula Phinizy in 1877, and leaves children Phinizy, June, Andrew, and Harriet Calhoun. He recently moved to a new home on Peachtree Street.

Eagles Convene in St Louis For Eleventh Fraternal Meeting
Delegates and visitors pour into St Louis for the eleventh annual national convention of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Some 20,000 gathered as bunting decorates public buildings. Grand Worthy President Frank B. Hering will open proceedings, with Thomas F. Grady to assume the presidency. Members and reports affirm strong growth and finances, with over 360,000 members and 2,000 subordinate avenues in the U.S. and Canada. Subordinate bodies have invested $6.9 million in temples and clubrooms. more than $1 million in sick benefits dispatched.
