Major Crimes Unit makes two separate drug busts Thursday
The Athens County Major Crimes Unit announced two separate drug investigations led to felony charges. Shirley L. Gould, 46, of Athens, and Aaron M. Cosby, 21, of Springfield, were arrested on cocaine trafficking charges in connected but unlinked cases. Gould was charged after a search of a home on Rhorie Road yielded over an ounce of powdered cocaine, scales, and $1,328 in cash. Cosby faces trafficking charges for allegedly selling cocaine to a confidential informant and offering free samples to residents including Hocking College students. Additional charges may follow after future grand juries.

Ohio duo indicted for dealing tranquilizer laced heroin
A federal grand jury indicted 31 year old Phillip Watkins and 26 year old Jeanetta Crawford on seven counts alleging they conspired in August 2016 to sell heroin laced with carfentanil from their Cincinnati home and operated drug involved premises. Man arraigned in pool cue assault case in Athens County
Londo Farmer, 20, pleaded innocent in Athens County Common Pleas Court to felony aggravated burglary and felonious assault charges in a pool cue attack on Aug. 21 that left Tyler Dilgard with head injuries.
