Perry Court News Sees Multiple Pleas In Common Pleas Court
In Perry County Common Pleas Court James Spears, 27, of Portsmouth received concurrent sentences of one to five years for breaking and entering and one to seven years for larceny after pleading guilty to stealing $375 from Rev. Ernest Howell. Howdyshell, 19, New Straitsville, pleaded innocent to second degree manslaughter after a two car collision that killed Charles Wilson, with bond set at $1,000 and trial scheduled Oct 13. A motion to quash a first degree murder indictment against Harry Goins, 67, Rendville, argued that his rights were violated due to lack of counsel from arrest Aug 3 to indictment Sept 9. Goins is charged with the fatal shooting of Peyton Wilkes in a Rendville tavern. Divorces were filed by James Vasko and Rose Marie O’Reilly, and Anna B Densmore transferred property to Robert Locke. Real estate transfers include Lizzie Toth to A C and Minnie Maxwell, and several other lot transfers in Crooksville and New Lexington.
